Pure genius or utter insanity?

I think it's a toss-up, depending on your perspective or just your love/hate feeling towards Faith No More, but Mike Patton, genius or loon, made an impact on the rock scene in the early 90s. The group wasn't fully appreciated until long after it's demise and Mike's gone on to bigger and other things, but it's hard not to appreciate a group who brought you songs like the radio friendly, Epic, the mocking and enjoyable We Care A Lot and the ever wonderful Midlife Crisis. Not to mention, who else would take the strangely cool candy bar commercial and incorporate it into their set?

Raiders of the Lost Memories

Anyone who knows me knows that Raiders will always be my favorite movie of all time. it beats all else, but rumors of an impending 4th movie has been floating around the internet for well over 5 years. Ford is getting to old to do anything but play his own dad and now there's rumor that the 4th movie will feature Natalie Portman as Indy's daughter, thought by many to be his love child with Marion (on that i'll fated night on Katanga's ship). Karen Allen was at a recent showing of Raiders up in NYC and was asked about the franchise. She was quoted as saying that Lucas and Speilberg had put together a reunion of past characters including Marion. She was later seen taking a big bag of cash, offstage...

As much as i love these films, i think the world is a better place without some half-assed, long-put-together script and bad excuse for a movie just so Lucas/Speilberg can gold plate their toilet paper rolls. They quit caring years ago and that's evident if you've seen a star wars movie in the last decade or Speilberg's last. . . well, i guess he hasn't done anything lately.

Give it a rest and let Indy die a peaceful death. But if you're up for some amusing comments and backlash, check out this post over at Ain't it Cool about the Portman rumor. It's nice to know i'm not the only one who thinks this is a load of crap.

Stardom with a side of spackle

Yesterday, during lunch, Mrs. LBG and i were wandering thru Home Depot. It's a lunchtime pasttime that calms us from the morning chaos of work. it also adds to our ever expanding list of items to pick up for the house. but on this particular day, we were there to pick out some sample paints and textures for the master bathroom when lo and behold, we sauntered past this man:

I don't know if you recognize this guy, but i did right away. Mrs. LBG recognized him as well, but she just didn't know where from. Apparently, this season's episodes of Prison Break are being filmed in Dallas and this guy is the star of the show. He was very inconspicuous as he strolled by in a pair of flip flops, shorts and orange t-shirt, obviously not having to deal with stardom just yet.

ambient sounds, etc

Internet radio has really changed the way i listen to music as well as the music i listen to. i was, and always will be a speed metal freak, but in the last year, i've really taken to good techno and ambient music. i'm sure most would say that techno and ambient are the same, but that's further from the truth. regardless, check out some good techno here from a little web designer named Eric Jordan. He's done some small webwork (as his fulltime job) with a company called 2Advanced Solutions, but in his spare time, he DJs and does some really nice mixes.

For some truly ambient sounds, give Groove Salad a listen over at SomaFM. Soma manages to play a lot of great, older ambient that isn't available any longer.
