Kicking the ever-living shit outta every n00b on the server
you remember doing that don't you?
it's monday morning after a shitty weekend (stuck inside from the weather) and i've read what is possibly the highlight of my day.
Garage Games (see, Dynamix) is looking to buy back the Tribes franchise from those fuckers at Vivendi that cornholed us with Tribes:Vengeance. In fact, they've created a tech demo that they plan to release sometime next month in hopes to rally the Tribes population and restore Tribes' good name back into the community. See the interview here on TribalWar with Tim Aste of Garage. And if that isn't proof enough, check out this small video that appeared online a few months ago for a movement test. What's interesting about the interview and tech demo is that Garage has stated that they aren't working on a new Tribes game. And yet, we see monitor screen shots like this that blatantly give away the concept that tribes is (recognize that armor?).
This brings back a flood of memories and emotions for me because of my deep involvement with the original Tribes games, designing maps for the community. those were some fascinating and exciting gaming days. Tribes 2 was equally amazing if you could look past the horridly buggy release.
I will definitely keep on top of this story. this could be the world of warcraft killer that will bring me out of my comfy Blizzard cocoon.
