playing catch-up

on this day, exactly one year ago, my brand new wife and i were moving into our current apartment. exactly one year later, we're closing on our new house. dear lord, please let our second anniversary be a quiet one without any more major purchases...

we celebrated our first anniversary this weekend. i am still amazed sometimes that i'm married and have been now for over a year. it's a great thing. we had dinner at a great little place down on Knox called Hibiscus. the food and atmosphere were great and the company was better. we're packing the apartment for our move in 2 weeks like mad. we broke down and cleaned and packed the car wreck that is the room of the 9 year old. he was spending the night at a friend's house and we knew that if we didn't take over the packing, we'd still be in the apartment for another year. we recovered most of our missing glassware, discovered the source of ants that's been invading the apartment for the last year and found a very happy and fat gecko living between the bed and wall. he had a grin on his face until we told him to get out, the food train had stopped here.

i think we've passed the excited stage about getting our own place. we're down to checklists, packing, financial and time management. it's just a job now. we take possession this week and next week, we start painting and wiring.
